Mad-Jon re: preemptive investing,

well I designed my strategy after my courses in strategic marketing. Seems to work. At least for now <g>

AMCC is a great stock of Mr. Gilder, who I highly respect. MAybe the most prominent technology analyst right now. What I like is his inductive AND deductive reasoning. His recent remarks on the upcoming demise of SONET and all the carefully crafted "foodchain" (from CSCO down to the VAR type software suppliers) by ALL-OPTICAL-NETWORK approaches I can only underwrite. This is the current trend, we are right in the middle. Compound semiconductors is just a by-product of this trend.

Now keep in mind who actually are the "architects" of this revolution and you will quickly find that CSCO and even LU have been caught on the wrong foot.

On a related topic there'S a great book titled "The Innovator's dilemma" authored by Harvard Professor Clayton Christensen (by chance he is one of the founders of CPSX, too). He points out that normally you cannot expect paradigm changes and leapfrogging activity from your segment bellwethers (CSCO, LU). How true. They are always in fear of cannibalizing their carefully crafted foodchain. Trying to sell you incremental improvements (15-20% per year in performance) while taxing you heavily. Sort of a "revolt of the sheep" <g> takes place and that foodchain gets turned upside down..

No problem. Had fun with POCI, FBCE, APAT, LPTHA, API, CVCI and all the others, too <g>

regards
