A very strange week - one that I haven't seen for a long
time, if ever, since I have been posting these results. The
group is up 3 percent for the week while the SOX-X is up 10
percent. That is a very large difference that does not
happen often. Even of more potential concern is the
disparity with the SOX-X index itself. Out of the 16 stock
index, 4 reside in the group as marked in the table below
with the asterisk. Adding the four closing stock prices
together last week and this week, and finding the percent
gain - the result is 1 percent. That means the other 12
members of the SOX-X had to do a lot better than 10 percent
to get all 16 members to 10 percent.

As usual, the spread in percentage gain and loss is very
large for the week running from a positive 30 percent for
NANO down to a 12 percent loss for FSII. Just so everyone
knows who reads this post, I sold all my shares of FSII on
Tuesday of this week for 18 5/8. I bought them in June of
1996 for 13 which computes to a gain of 43 percent for over
a 3 and one-half year period. About the only thing I can
say is that it is probably a better return than the money
market. <gg>. There are 22 stocks up, 1 the same, and 12
down for the week.

One thing more. I added the Nasdaq Composite Index in this
week for another comparison point. The group couldn't even
keep up with the Nasdaq gain of 4 percent for the week.
