It's a very proper concern of government what your children are taught (and learn), and this is not in my view a partisan issue. There is a certain base of knowledge that all American children must have if we are not to fall behind foreign countries whose children repeatedly outdo in science, mathematics, etc. If we fall behind educationally, we risk the national economy and, perhaps eventually, national security. It not such a personal issue as you think.
