no kidding molly. we all learned to read at an early age. my statement in regard to Nokia/IDC and TDD is that TDD is the functional data overlay that will be utilized in a third generation platform that will allow the downloading of COMPLETE books, movies, videos. Current WAP formats aren't even hooked into a 3g air interfaces as yet (other than testing). However, Nokia's beginning relationship with Amazon is the first step in moving toward this ability to download truckloads of data. Nokia's ability to form relationships first and build the technological base formed around that reletionship is now stuff of legend.
TDD is one of several airlink technologies that WAP can utilise.
WAP is independent of the airlink technology.
so what. MUCH of IDC's work with Nokia is in supplying the TDD overlay for for 3g ASICs. This same overlay could as well be applied to a 2g system.
TDD is not sponsored by NOK and IDC. It is a technology utilised by many companies (MOT, NOK, ERICY, AT&T, LU, Nortel, CNXT, Seimens etc. etc,). NOK, IDC and others hold TDD patents
I don't know where you came up with "TDD is not sponsored by NOK and IDC". It is sponsored by both, and sponsored by them in the 3g platform. It would be fruitful for you to call IDC, follow IDC's CCs and speak with other sources in regard to this matter. You either didn't say what you really meant, or, taken at face value it is inherently incorrect. As for TDD being a "technology utilized by many companies" - again you are probably confusing TDD with TDMA - these are two separate technologies; partially related in that both utilize time division in sending data, but otherwise completely different in all other factors (algorithms that form the basis are completely different - little similarilities; well - they both use numbers - isn't that novel). So, no, it is a technology utilized by only a few (small) companies currently in commercial applications. the utilization is in no way equitable to any 3g platform functions. the honchos are only in the beginning stages relative to the application specific technics - and they'll need IDC's IPR relative to the platform. IDC holds several key patents for TDD which are essential to both its application and deployment. Nokia wouldn't have entered into an agreement with IDC if they didn't. Don't take it up with me; take it up with those doing the work. |
