Good Morning to all,
While researching GMST and making an investment in it I spend some time reading many of the posts on the GMST thread. Reading unclewest's excellent postings there I did (as I usually do when I find somebody's posts interesting) click on his name and found the G&K thread. I have read many of the posts in the last month and bought the RFM. I am reading it right now but due to the fact that I did not find out about G&K investing until recently I still work for a living and have limited spare time.
I like to thank everybody on the thread for their excellent posts it has been quite an eye opener for me lately. One stock that I have owned for several months is Actuate, It was recommended to me by a friend who has links with the company. My investment has done very well and the company is getting to be one of my larger holdings. The more I read about ACTU the more I think that it may fall into the G&K realm. Mind you I have not read the RFM yet. This company has about 100% y/y growth it actually makes money and it has some strong companies using their software. I am a contractor in the construction industry and I am not very savvy in understanding ACTU?s marketplace but this may be a candidate for project hunt.

Here are some of the basics:

Actuate's customers include the world's largest .com, financial services, telecommunications, health care and media companies. Competitors
ACTU lists some of its competitors in its SEC-10Q under RISKS. To quote:

- direct competition from current or future vendors of reporting solutions such as Seagate Software, Inc. (a division of Seagate Technology, Inc.),MicroStrategy Incorporated and Brio Technology, Inc.

- indirect competition from vendors of OLAP and query tools such as Hyperion Solutions Corp., Business Objects S.A., Cognos, Inc. and Microsoft that integrate reporting functionality with such tools

- indirect competition from enterprise application vendors such as SAP and Oracle, to the extent they include reporting functionality in their applications

competition from e.Business software vendors and Web development tool vendors

- competition from the information systems departments of current or potential customers that may develop reporting solutions internally which may be cheaper and more customized than our products

My understanding is that Brio is the closest competitor but that Actuate is well ahead of Brio
