Mike, I did not think that todays mobile wireless infrastructure is capable of broadband until 3G is rolled out. (My background is not in wireless technology) I assume this is only a matter of time. Maybe that is why interest is picking up as a way to bypass the Bells using the existing mobile networks to double as fixed wireless. Who knows? In any event Telular seems positioned very well considering their patents.
On an experience note. While I have 3 telephone lines a new house was built a few hundred yards away and the telephone company told the new home owners that no lines were left and they would have to run a line in. In the meantime they gave them a mobile phone to use until they could get a line run in. I wonder if this is becoming more common as people demand more lines. Even the Bells could offer fixed wireless as second or third lines in areas were lines are scarce. In this case they just spent the $$ on a new line.
