Playboy Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: PLAA), has won its second multi-million dollar legal judgment in a month related to
intellectual property infringement on the Internet, this time against two Hong Kong-based companies and their owners.
The $3 million award, plus attorneys' fees and court costs, was granted by a federal judge in Virginia. It is believed to
be the first reported award of statutory damages for trademark counterfeiting since the U.S. Trademark Act was
amended in 1996, a change that makes it easier for companies to win damages for willful counterfeiting of their
trademarks. The award was assessed against Hong Kong-based AsiaFocus International, Inc., and Internet
