Professor Voltaire,
Thanks for posting the information that you have begun to share with us.
Each time I begin to think I'm understanding how the market works, I find out I have so much more to learn.
I feel as you are speaking directly to me when I read that many folks are spending too much time gambling and seeking thrill with their investment dollars. I've only just begun to hold long term. It has made an incredible difference. I still sweat out the wild fluctuation of the market, though.
I feel as if I'm under pressure to make a huge sum of money in the next couple of years, just so I can begin to live off the covered calls and other investment strategies.
In addition, I feel as if I'm under pressure to find the next great trend in this constantly evolving technological market frenzy.
<Clappy walks over to the ELON Lonworks Console and presses button #8. A few floor boards move left to right as the sound of motors humming begin to make way for yet, another new feature of Volt's Porch. What appears to be a 3 foot tall soap box slowly raises from the floor.>
<Clappy carefully steps up onto it as he realizes this is about to be the first time he voices his opinion amongst the full crowd of Porchers, onlookers, and T.V. viewers. He clears his throat...>
I've been forced to learn quickly and on the move. I've lost a good share of money along the way. It's only just recently I have begun to catch the riding wave. My portfolio has begun to drastically improve because I've applied some of the lessons I've learned from Voltaire and the other good people of this wondrous porch. Gains I made before this were, perhaps in hindsight 20/20, due to dumb luck.
There is no such book that I've read that has taught me, nor hit home like the words written before me on a daily basis coming from this wooden structure.
<Clapster takes a deep breath as he get's set to tell the world his opinion. (Mind you it is an opinion that he has developed on his own, with his limited faculties, and derived mostly from what he has read here. It is not really directed to the Porcher's. Perhaps it is meant more for people who happen to be in the same boat as myself.)>
<Clappy turns to the left and looks into the Silicon Investor T.V. camera that beams these pictures to the land of Yahoo and the other foreign territories...>
There is a lot of fear in the air at this moment because of the Dow sinking past critical level of support. The Naz has, for the most part disengaged itself from that old rusted machine, and is firing away on all cylinders as of October of this past year.
As the Dow ruptures due to interest rate fears, the money that comes gushing out is pooling on the sides. There is a lot of "old" money collecting in these pools. The people who control these liquid funds have been reading for the past several years of the phenomenal growth of the technology stocks. They have laughed and laughed at how silly we are to be tying up our money in these "Crazy" valuations. Now they have been slowly catching on to our new found "religeon". They have slowly become believers...
It is my opinion that these pools of money are headed directly to the companies who have been making all the headlines as of late. They are going to try to shake us out so that they will be able to fill our spot, take our holdings, and refill their pockets.
These people have been reading about the QCOM's, CSCO's, JDSU's, etc. They have all run out to buy their hunting gear to track down the next great gorilla, etc. It is essential to buy stock in these future gorillas, kings, and godzillas... Old Money will begin laying their bets as the smaller investors begin to feel the pinch. I will be trying my hardest to keep this in mind as I begin to feel the pinch.
I just wish I was in a position to take advantage of options and the other strategies...
My day will come. In the mean time, I will continue to learn from the best, most generous investors in the world.
Voltaire and fellow Porchers, thank you for your infinite wisdom and your generosity for sharing it with us. No book contains the treasures that are written here.
Sincerely,
-ClaptonsGuitar |
