David - Since I've held Infowave I've believed this: that Infowave's working relationship with Microsoft might one day provide a means to persuade MS to incorporate Office Enabler features into MS Exchange.
I spent last night reviewing all my old links on Infowave, reviewing the developments, trying to put the pieces together in a sensible, not-too-speculative way. I have also tried to incorporate background info that hints strongly at MS involvement. My ramblings on VR aside, this has to be what the (presumed) collaboration between MS and Infowave involves. This makes sense. It feels right. To believe this, one has to believe - (a) The move to Redmond was not about sales and marketing at all. That was just a cover story. It was really about software integration. (b) The rumors about MS involvement are true, but they've got the wrong slant. It's not a money deal, it's a software collaboration that gives IW a slice of MS Exchange's pie: the revenue implications could be enormous, depending on the terms of the deal.
Accepting the above as true, then you have a predictable financial foundation that you can take to US investment bankers, and many of Infowave's moves become more understandable. Examine the timelines of Infowave's events - including the move to Redmond.
The exciting thing about this possibility is the revenue implication: Infowave is not tied to any deal with any wireless provider - they will get revenue when anyone, anywhere, using any software, any provider, buys and uses Exchange.
This has to be it.
Speculation, but I believe it. |
