That statement was little more than PR. In terms of actual volumes at release time, nothing has changed for AMD. Take the 850 MHz Athlon release, for example. Only a few OEMs are selling systems right now with that speed grade, and vendors on Pricewatch had to take pre-orders on the thing several weeks after the actual launch. This is the same standard that AMD used for every other processor launch.

Tench, what do they serve you guys for lunch at Intel...the Red Chinese want to know.....they have been having some trouble keeping the comrades in line.
