We do that too when we need "provisions" for our cooking. Fortunately, there are a number of different specialty ethnic groceries in various parts of the city..and then there is Chinatown, so the quest for unusual food items isn't too demanding. Always rather interesting to poke around through those places... Dried, flattened fish and ducks stacked like magazines on racks, vats of strange preserved things, hundred-year-old-eggs packed in sawdust.... Canned fruits, veggies and other things with the most bizarre label art which defies any possible interpretation that we can come up with. Great way to spend a few hours in the city.... croc
