Jon: The "Out of Hand" Barrons story is basically a hatchet job on Palm and 3 Com timed in true "Bear-ons" tradition to hurt the Palm IPO to the extent possible.

The basic slant is transparently for that purpose. What is amazing is how often Barrons is effective in tearing down a company - or in this case a prospective IPO.

But you are right. Barrons is also completely consistent with the Dow Jones policy of ignoring Qualcomm and CDMA in "wireless" stories.

In this case the omission may be in part because the Q uses Palm in some of its phones and admitting that would take some of the zing out ot the arrows launched at Palm.

In fact a good image for the article would be a Palm with arrows embedded in it.

Yet as Ruffian posted, in an interview a couple of fund managers say that the Q is the Microsoft of the "new economy".

It is as if the stories on interviews never are read by those hired to sent the slings and arrows toward the chosen target for the week.

Again, I wonder why the anti Q stance by Dow Jones reporters and staff?

Best.
