An Afghan? A Doberman? Not sure you've had the mainstream dog "experience" yet, X.

IMO, a home without a dog may represent greater deprivation than a home without a Mommy or Daddy. A single parent household is one important element ahead of a no dog household.

Although I can easily find something in most nihil posts to go off on, I must agree completely with his characterization of Border Collies.

In the area of man-animal role reversals, The Planet of the Border Collies would have been far more credible than The Planet of the Apes. These "dogs" not only respond brilliantly, I believe they are capable of evaluating probabilities and making actual "plans".

An old pal who taught my kids when they were high school students in Tokyo, visits for a week or two every summer. John's straight smart, street smart and kid smart to the max.

First time he spotted Maggie, he stopped -- looked at her, and turned to me and said, "If that was a kid in my class, I would NEVER turn my back on her."

Our other is a Lab. "Party Dog" might be a better name for the breed. I think her favorite oldie is, "Girls Just Want to Have Fun."
