WAP is an open standard supported by nearly all players. It has nothing to do with TDD. You could just as easily claim that a babies first step was evidence of an Olympic Champion. See! Look! Junior took his first step! That's an Olympic Champion in the making! Keep it up Darrell.

First of all, WAP is NOT supported by all players (read ERICY announcement on RCRnews today). The players are not sure where to go with WAP (read my previous RCR post). The battle of "WAP" related designs if raging on.

Seconly, WAP has everything to do with TDD. What the heck do you think data downloads are going to speak to? Certainly not thin air! They need the software (or similar construct) in place first and the bugs worked out in order for any data overlay technology to work. The software standard (WAP) must first be accepted and introduced in order for HDR or TDD to operate. Nokia is inventing the first step of making WAP more ubiquitious for all. The success of the Amazon deal through improved sales will also yield a greater probability that others will follow; if nothing else but to catch up. Since Nokia's early data overlay version will include TDD functionality programmed toward it's improved version of WAP, it could control the path toward 3g ASIC standardization.

HDR nor TDD is nothing without something to download to. If Wap, or its conterparts, doen't work, HDR and TDD is useless. There's as much debate going on right now as to what protocol to use as there is which CDMA to use. Both TDD and HDR must be programmed to something. WAP's strength means they can configure their overlay toward WAP. Consistent reconfiguration is timely and represents additional costs (especially as embedded in an ASIC core). It's Nokia's goal to move through an improved version of WAP (which they've been promoting). ERICY, on the other hand, doesn't seem to know what to do. They see Nokia taking the lead; they see the weaknesses of the current WAP model; they see the improved strengths of the Nokia model. ERICY generally prefers to lead. I'm certain they are weary of being led around by the Nokia improvements and standard setting; having to play catch up. The Amazon deal is just another example of Nokia's effort and example of groundbreaking to standardize its own WAP version. Success here means standardization on Nokia's data overlay versions will also become ubiquitious worldwide.

You can preach the glories of HDR all day Bux but it is meaningless without a wireless protocol. That's like saying, it's superman alright, but he doesn't have any arms, legs, eyes or hot breath!

BTW, I never argued it was HDR or nothing. That's your own silly characterization

you've implied it. this is just a game with you. you don't appear sincere in your attempts to understand the issues. you do talk a lot.
