>>Should all women who have abortions, and the doctors and nurses who assist them, be sentenced to death?<<
Not under the present law, because abortion in general is not illegal. Should it become illegal, there would be penalties for performing (and likely even having) an illegal abortion.
We know that "life" exists in a person who has been born. We all agree on that. We all agree that the murder of that life is wrong.
I, personally, do not believe that we ethically, scientifically or morally have the means to determine the question of when life begins--i.e., at conception or at some later point. But it begins at some point in the eyes of God. If we do not know this point, we must err (if error it be) on the side of life beginning at the earliest point--conception. We must not allow abortions because we may be taking an innocent life, and no one on this Earth can prove that we are not.
Those against capital punishment must live with their own illogic. Most say no excecutions must take place because we "may" be taking an innocent life (highly unlikely in the recent case of Grandma Hatchet). If that uncertainty as to whether an innocent life may be taken by execution leads liberals to oppose the death penalty, then they must also just as vigorously oppose abortion because of the same difficult question--if we do this, are we taking an innocent life? |
