I look at the the stock market as a game of musical chairs. In Oct 97, over a several thousand stock rebounded off their lows. Each subsequent dip fewer and fewer have recovered. Now, you beleive we are down to 4 players in the game. It may not take much time for the music to stop for good if I read between the lines of what you were saying. However, things can not get better in this market unless some pain has been felt. As Zeev has been saying recently, 3 days of -1200 tick is needed, I agree too. I just feel very sorry for the 70% of the families in the market now that believe some of the crap in those TV ads for online investing. I am acting as general contractor on an addition on to my house and I am interviewing various contractors for bids. Part of the conservation with about 90% of them invarible leads to the stock market. They would in some detail describe what two bit NAZDAQ tech or biotech stock was going to allow them to retire early. I am keeping a informal record of their stock selections and I have actually bought shares of several companies that look half way interesting. I haven't decided to consider their stock picking success in my contract award but if they pick a real good one I just may be swayed. On the flip side, I told some of them I liked RMBS. They may raise their price if they know how much stock I have. LOL john
