Remember that Aber's operation will have an impact on the Coppermine river that is the biggest spawning ground for the Artic Char, a very important component on their life. One look at what "development" can have on fish is the Shunda creek that once was one of the best places in North America for Brown Trout. "Development" moved in, crossed the creek in three places, and left the roads in once they were finished. Now a place that once produced record Brown Trout is not even worth serious fishing but for one hole. I used to get 30 fish a day with Boy Scouts. Don't get me even talking about the Salmon problems in B.C.

There is a side to their concern, they are not just tree huggers.

It is us that value the diamonds more than the Char. They don't eat diamonds.

I hear their engineering plan had more than a few loop holes when they started getting grilled on it. I have also heard a "knowledgable person" that is a very very tough engineering situation.
