Brian, Over the past few days I have been noticing that the SubjectMarks page loads in two distinct intervals. First 'Subjects with New Messages' then 'Subjects without New Messages'. On my slow connection there are times where the time between these two loads is in the tens of seconds. Sometimes the 'Subjects without New Messages' never arrives and I then press 'Reload', other times I click a link and go read some of the new messages. As you know, if one leaves the SubjectMarks page BEFORE it has completely loaded, when one returns, the entire page will reload. This causes a delay for the user, and additional data to be delivered by SI which causes a delay, however slight, for everyone who is receiving data at the time. I propose that 'Subjects without New Messages' not be downloaded but be converted to a link. This data is normally not needed and by having a link, when a user needs this information s/he can simply click on the link to display it. This solution would go a long way to speeding data delivery for those who must contend with slow connections. Anyone else notice this?
