Elmer, No-one expects Intel to fall in a day, however it can become eroded rapidly if they fail to get the P-III out in volume and up in speed.
New products from Intel recently are like the mating of elephants....a huge amount of noise and activity at a high level and then nothing for 18 months.
The AMD assault is still gaining. The damage has been done. No-one will rely on Intel exclusively again because they got badly burnt recently....so they tried AMD.....surprise, AMD worked very well, fast products, reliable products, and in stock with no problems at all. They are now used to it. the CPU market has been commoditised. I expcet even Dell will fall if Intel delays much longer.
