Marking posts as "read" is actually a browser thing, not an SI thing. Your browser marks a post as "read" by changing the color of the link, which indicates that the link has been visited. When you read 10 at a time, you are not actually visiting each link, so the posts are not marked as such.

You are not the first person to make this request, and we are working on an alternative, i.e. either some way to "trick" the browser into thinking that the individual links have been visited, or some other mechanism to mark "last post read".

We're open to suggestions on this one as well. :)
