Those who think teaching religious principles civilizes people needs to take a look at history; e.g. the Inquisition, the Crusades, the Salem witch trials, etc. -- not to mention current hostilities between India and Pakistan, Bosnia and Kosovo, Israel and its arab neighbors, just to name a few. Some of the bloodiest massacres in history have been carried out in the name of religion.

You are all welcome to believe anything you want to. But you'll have a hard time convincing me that religious belief reduces violence.
