Recent SEC filings indicated that Fleet retail will talk to stockholders having over 50% of ownership of Service Merchandise. Forming stockholders' committee therefore makes much sense. At the current value of $0.13/share; the total value of the company is only $13 million. But that does not mean you can buy the majority of the stock in open market. Float is only about 12 million shares by the trading data available at Nasdaq Otcbb. Gaining the support of the rest of the 88 million shares is important. Current stockholders may consists of mostly employees and small stockholders who had accumulated over the last five years.
