Manugistics Unveils eBusiness Solution for Retail Industry
Powering Intelligent Decisions For Today's Converging Market
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Manugistics Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: MANU), today, unveiled an innovative eBusiness solution for the retail industry. Showcased at the International Mass Retail Association's (IMRA) Logistics 2000 Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Manugistics Retail Solution is designed to deliver intelligent decisions that enable today's retailer to achieve profitable sourcing and fulfillment.
Manugistics' solution synchronizes sourcing, distribution, and delivery of products to consumers, linking multiple channels -- kiosks, Web store fronts, and "bricks and mortar." Enabled by enhanced visibility and intelligent decision-making across multiple channels, these expected improvements spring from the linkage of customer orders and future demand with real-time available to promise information.
With prior experience at more than 80 leading retail clients, the Manugistics Retail Solution is designed for seamless integration to both installed and future applications. Using Manugistics WebWORKS(TM) architecture with the advanced WebConnect features, this solution is designed to answer the needs of today's retailer struggling with the development of an eBusiness strategy in the face of IT infrastructure complexity -- legacy systems, emerging technologies and collaboration within an extended network composed of global suppliers, changing marketplaces and converging channels.
Using the robust "capable to promise" engines in the Manugistics NetWORKS Commit(TM) product, the Manugistics Retail Solution links customer demand for multiple channels to available capacity and inventory with realistic "promise dates" for order fulfillment. Initially shipped with the Manugistics5 product release in 1999, Manugistics' electronic fulfillment solution was recently rated as #1 in market share by ARC Advisory Group, Dedham, MA.
"The leading supplier of E-Fulfillment Solutions (eFS) is Manugistics," said Steve Banker, director of supply chain solutions, ARC Advisory Group. "E-Fulfillment solutions enable companies with Internet sales to dramatically improve their e-business perfect order fulfillment metric. This metric defines a perfect order delivery as an order delivered on time, in the quantities ordered, with no unauthorized substitutions, and billed correctly. Manugistics' leadership is based on providing strong Capable-to-Promise solutions."
"Today's retail market is complex with increasing demands due to escalating customer expectations and channel convergence of retail, e-tail and click and mortar," said Jeff Holmes, senior vice president of strategic solutions and alliances at Manugistics. "Manugistics solution is uniquely positioned to deliver profitable fulfillment using Web-based intelligence for today's retailer."
Manugistics' intelligent solutions are used by three of the top four Fortune 500 retailers. Leading retail clients include companies such as Canadian Tire, Dayton Hudson, Heilig-Meyer, Lowes, OfficeMax, Payless Cashways, Ross Stores, Staples, Starbucks, The Gap, and The Limited.
