States of Jersey Treasury Wires 'Government Finance' With J.D. Edwards OneWorld Software

DENVER, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC), the leading provider of e-business software solutions that deliver speed and agility, announced that the States of Jersey, the government of the Island of Jersey in the Channel Islands, near the United Kingdom, has purchased its OneWorld(TM) enterprise software solution. This implementation marks the first phase of he Island's E-Government strategy to replace all the government's financial and resource control systems with integrated and agile e-business software.

Jersey operates completely independently of the United Kingdom and has a mix of financial services and tourism industries, in addition to agriculture, as its key revenue generators. Moving forward, Jersey intends to develop a fourth pillar of industry based on Information Technology, and expand its already significant financial services industry into a world-leading e-business service.

"We believe that the purchase of J. D. Edwards OneWorld software is an essential first phase of the E-Government strategy. This strategy is aimed at improving the efficiency and effectiveness of government business across the whole spectrum of services provided by the States of Jersey," said Paul Robinson, corporate systems manager, States of Jersey Treasury. "Our aim is to create a model for government finance which not only improves the efficiency of government business but also facilitates the sharing of these processes and information -- giving us the ability to talk both within government as well as to our own citizens and to customers and suppliers all over the world.

"We have an ambitious strategy in place to facilitate this aim and one we believe will eventually be seen as a role model for other nation states and vertical market segments of the public sector. Essentially it's all about being able to put our ideas into action and J. D. Edwards OneWorld solution will let us do just that."

Trevor Salomon, J.D. Edwards UK marketing director, added, "The States of Jersey is a unique example of a single organization combining almost every element of an enterprise's information management needs. J. D. Edwards is delighted to have been chosen as a founding partner of the States in delivering enterprise software and we look forward to being able to help Jersey realize its ambition to become a leading proponent of the intelligent use of technology in Government."

The Jersey Information Society Commission is driving this project and more information can be found on its web site www.jerseyisc.org.
