announced the availability of its X 50 advanced Optimization platform for
IS95 CDMA cellular and PCS networks.
Targeting the CDMA carrier marketplace, the X 50 is the latest in
Comarco's "X series" of network analysis instruments. The X 50 combines
the benefits of comprehensive CDMA phone data collection with the power
of independent PN scanning. Supporting twin EVRC (enhanced variable rate
codec) capable CDMA phones couple with a powerful integrated PN
scanner, the X 50 quickly identifies problem areas permitting rapid and
detailed analysis of both 800 MHz and 1900 MHz wireless networks.
Applications include coverage analysis, performance optimization,
best-serving pilot detection, neighborhood list validation, pilot pollution, island
cell detection and the fault diagnosis maintenance of dual-band, dual-mode
CDMA/AMPS networks.

Delivering advanced performance analysis, the X 50 is built around a
powerful real time mapping environment designed to pinpoint network
problems at a glance. Used during drive tests, the X 50 generates detailed
performance maps, allowing carriers to track network quality in real-time,
visualize trends and quickly identify problem areas.
Its advanced features include support for twin, dual-band CDMA phones
permitting full data collection and analysis of online call performance and idle
handoff performance.
Simultaneous RF analysis from high precision dual-band reference scanners
extends the X 50's performance, delivering accurate signal measurements
with powerful wide-band and narrow-band interference detection
capabilities.
An integrated, high performance, dual-channel PN scanner provides
automated, independent PN scanning of all 512 PNs, enabling accurate pilot
measurement, interference detection and simplifying hard hand-off analysis.
The X 50 also incorporates Comarco's Q-MOS audio measurement
technology permitting carriers to assess and quantify network performance
and audio/voice quality simultaneously.
A graphically oriented replay program permits the immediate review of data
collected in the exact format as that captured in real-time, allowing engineers
to diagnose problems on site without the need to export data to external post
processing applications.
A full range of customizable IS95 specific engineering displays offer direct
access to virtually all available CDMA performance parameters, including
detailed Layer 3 logging, decode and display. Plus the X 50 supports
customizable automatic market insertions and programmable audio alarms.
Designed for harsh field environments, the X 50 is rugged, compact and
modular. It also is built on a highly upgradeable platform, allowing carriers to
expand the X 50's functionality and compatibility as their networks evolve.
The X 50 also ships with Comarco's powerful "Workbench" MapInfo
compatible mapping and post processing tools, completing the suite and
providing rapid creation of maps, plots and statistical test data.
