Another possibility is that many large investors have short sold NT based on the .78 spin-off. Better to lock in the profits at this point. If it continues to go down, then they can always but NT back at a profit, it it goes up, then they can't complain on taking profits early.

Enough of this reaction and you would get a definite downward effect on both stocks.
