PTC Enters Strategic Partnership with AVL List GmbH; Strategic Partnership Provides Integrated Design and Simulation Tools
WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 28, 2000--PTC (NASDAQ:PMTC) today announced it has entered into a strategic partnership with AVL List GmbH. AVL List GmbH, located in Graz, Austria, specializes in engine and powertrain development. The partnership integrates PTC's Pro/ENGINEER and Windchill software with the simulation software and process expertise of AVL for developing engines and vehicles.
The resulting solutions, which will be jointly marketed worldwide, will provide powertrain development organizations with an integrated system of products and process models allowing breakthrough productivity in the design and simulation of vehicle powertrains. Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and other state-of-the-art simulation technology from AVL, combined with the award-winning Behavioral Modeling technology of Pro/ENGINEER, all under the workflow process management of Windchill, companies can take the next step in virtual engine product development.
Pro/ENGINEER is widely used by the world's leading powertrain development organizations including many major automobile OEM's. AVL, a PTC customer since 1994, has purchased over $1 million in software and services from PTC in the past six months, in order to accelerate their development process.
"Pro/ENGINEER is used within AVL to efficiently design and optimize engines before prototyping. Networking of the development tools is a crucial precondition for shortening development times," said Helmut List, CEO, AVL List GmbH. "The cooperation between AVL and PTC is an important step in conquering this challenge and will open up new market potential for both partners."
"AVL has deep expertise in the development of world-class engines using Pro/ENGINEER and we are excited about their continued investment in our Web-based collaboration solutions. Today's announcement of this product development initiative serves to strengthen our partnership," said Jon Stevenson, senior vice president of research and development at PTC.
