A priori - I am a trader - not an EE, so the following is probably over simplistic and old news.
It seems the fabless producers with their ability to move production to the most technologically advanced foundry can accelerate the advance toward larger wafer and smaller feature sizes. If the producers are well financed - it would make sense to keep buying those "green bananas" from AMAT and capture market share. Leaving traditional, poorly financed producers (Micron) in the dust.

ps - sold some more - one of the few stocks I worry more about being out than in.
