My best surmise is that Q:
-didn't want to assume the entire risk of ARTT--why put that many eggs in the artt tech. basket--let others share the expense and risk;
-didn't want further dilution of earnings--we all know artt revenues are still "far" in the future. Why carry artt for several years with the concomitant earnings hit when you can garner all the advantages--except for 100% of an unsure upside--w/o doing so. Admittedly more expensive now, but theoretically closer to EBITDA positive. Of course, ARTT is still a long way from being an actual financial play, but....
