Ok ...I'M THE BIGOT HERE!!!!! LOL
I have aversion to evangelicalism because I find it demeaning, belittling, and disrespectful for someone to say that they know what's best for me, despite what I think. At the same time, the person evangelicalizing has, imo, every right to do it, regardless of what I think. Sure, it offends me, who wouldn't hate feeling belittled and demeaned?,... but then who says I'm right??? surely not I. It is just my opinion that's all, and just because I dislike evangelicalism as a concept, I would never say that I hate evangelicalists as a group of people, and especially never say that I hate one in particular, without further knowledge.
If truth be told, I also have an aversion, nay, more of a natural distrust of the devoutly faithful, as it is my opinion that one should never be so committed to anything, as there is always a chance you could be wrong (it's not a easy existence, to think for yourself, but it's an honest one).
I have an easier time considering the concept of deism, but organized religion seems to me to fly in the face of logic and everything we've come to know about the universe from direct observation and experience. If I'm wrong, so be it, I'll be punished for my sins.
So, I never got an answer to my question. How would you all feel about electing an orthodox Jew to the presidency, especially considering the fact that their agendas are so similar??
