rr- No doubt you see my bias towards a copper and coax Last Mile solution. But you are correct, if you include mobile wireless, the field is wide open and an unknown standard will evolve. I would like to know other's opinions mobile wireless access to.

Good question about Cisco. I have no idea of the answer.

It's the Service Providers that don't want to take a technological leap because it's too expensive. The equipment guys just go along for the ride.

Good point about IBM, Amdahl, and Cray. I'm always on the lookout for getting caught with my pants down. So far I see no signs. But I'll be the first to run if I see it coming through via the top line of any equipment companies I follow. And I follow a LOT of them. Too many at times.

Of all the broadband access technologies to compete with DSL/HFC solution, LMDS/MMDS concerns me the most. That is why I'm spending more time researching it.

Speaking of this, there's a very interesting LMDS press release out of Newbridge today. You may want to take a look at it. I definitely think LMDS/MMDS is for real, though you can't tell from my posts because I'm somewhat ignorant about it. -MikeM(From Florida)
