I am curious about something. Assume a hedge fund manager with a lot of capital calls up his friends and they all agree to buy or sell a stock at a certain time. Is that illegal? Of course I suppose you would have to prove that the intent was to manipulate the stock for profit and that would be almost impossible. But in theory?
