Chris, what you have said makes a lot of sense but, I wonder why more people do not look elsewhere for communion with God. I know that there are devout Christians in, almost, every denomination but, why do they sit back unwilling to search for something better? I guess, as you said, they err on the side of safety in something they are comfortable with. Can't they see that Jesus was sent to to correct a very similar situation in the state of the Jewish religion during His time? Yes, it takes courage to seek, and embrace, change but, sometimes it is the only way to get back on the right track.
On those few questions at the end of your post, I hope you are not looking for the answers to them from me. Why flesh does what it does sometime, is a total mystery to me.
Perhaps I am dreaming, or wishing too hard but, it seems that more and more people, especially young people, are beginning to turn to the Lord in larger numbers than before. The revival may be beginning. we can only hope, and pray.
