Nokia's Wireless Loopset Advancements Connect HEARING IMPAIRED With Company's First World Phone: New Nokia Loopset Features Include Answer/End Button and Extended Operating Time
The Nokia LPS-3 Loopset accessory is compatible with the recently announced Nokia 8890, the company's first world phone, and the Nokia 8860 (tri-mode AMPS/TDMA 800/TDMA 1900) phone for the Americas. The Nokia LPS-3 Loopset is scheduled to be available during the first quarter of 2000.
The new Nokia LPS-3 Loopset is worn around the neck and attaches to the headset jack of the Nokia 8860 or Nokia 8890 phone.
Incorporating the same innovative technology as the award-winning Nokia LPS-1 Loopset, the new wireless accessory provides clear digital communication solutions to the more than two million Telecoil (T-coil) hearing aid users in North America.
The T-coil shuts the microphone of the hearing aid off, making it a receiver of the magnetic energy emitted by the Loopset. The T-coil then converts those impulses to sound, eliminating background noise and improving the signal to noise ration.
New, improved features of the Nokia LPS-3 Loopset include:
- Answer/End button for opening and ending a call
Extended (four times more) operating time with silver oxide batteries Thinner, more flexible cable connection to Nokia 8860 or Nokia 8890 phone - Low battery signal tone
"Driven by the hearing impaired community's tremendous response to the Nokia LPS-1 Loopset, Nokia continues to deliver on its strong commitment to improving communication for the hearing impaired with the Nokia LPS-3 Loopset which incorporates even more advanced features," said Keith Nowak, product manager, accessories at Nokia Mobile Phones.
"With the Nokia LPS-3 Loopset and a belt clip, Hearing Impaired Consumers will be able to enjoy clear digital communications with Nokia's latest models, the Nokia 8860 and 8890 Series phones."
Planned to be made available worldwide in March 2000, the new Nokia 8890 dual-mode EGSM 900 MHz/GSM 1900 MHz phone offers features that make the handset more accessible for persons with disabilities.
These key features include voice dialing, predictive text input for typing messages faster; a blue illuminated display making text and numbers easy to read; picture and text messaging; and a built-in vibrating alert.
