Mile, you know, cruising through this thread a bit today, it has the feel, camraderie and committed knowledge base of the original Q thread--of course many members in common here from there. But it's a good feeling.

OT Boukreev got hammered by Krakauer, absolutely hammered. I read his own book, The Climb, I think, written in collaboration shortly before he was killed. Structurally it was flawed as a read, but Boukreev explained his side of things. I felt badly that he felt compelled to give a defense to a tragedy in which many played a role that could have been played differently. Krakauer himself hurried down the mountain like a greased pig. I have Breashears book on the nightstand waiting for base camp acclimation.
