Doug,
I'm a patent attorney working for a NYC law firm, commute from LI so I don't have too much time, but I will read them and report back.
BTW, it's amazing how the stock prices of these BB companies can soar with the mere mention of a patent application filing. Here's a good example: LMGR - I bought that at 18 cents and sold at 2.00. Then, they announce that they filed a patent application, and the stock goes to $9.00, with 17MM OS, that's about $150MM market cap based on total hype, with absolutely no evidence of their invention being operable. Amazing!
Also in regards to valuations - I mentioned ISCO (Illinois Superconductor) - if you count the warrants, the market cap of that BB company is now about $2B. That's about 40 times that of CPSX right now, for a company that has hardly any revenues but lots of losses.
Have you read "Rembrandts in the Attic" yet? Patent licensing has grown from a 10B/year business in 1990 to 100B/year in 1999. Look at EDIG, a crummy little company with a couple of patents that can probably be invalidated, now has a market cap of about $2B. Maybe there's a pot of gold in CPSX's patents -- we shall see. |
