Cygnal's Normex Telecom selected by AT&T Cygnal Technologies Corp CYN Shares issued 10,128,718 Feb 28 close $5.30 Tue 29 Feb 2000 News Release Mr. Doug Young reports Cygnal Technologies Corporation's Normex Telecom division has obtained a contract from AT&T Broadband, the cable television arm of AT&T Corp., to install the cable infrastructure for its newly constructed primary hub in Everett, Wash. The contract is valued at approximately $750,000. Normex will supply and install the cable backbone as well as install and connect all RF equipment in a broadband cable head-end located in Everett. To meet time constraints, Normex's engineering and installation staff built a full-scale mockup of the Everett installation in a warehouse in Laval, Que., where the backbone cabling and harnesses were assembled, test-fitted for precision, and then disassembled for shipment to Everett for rapid installation. "This project represents a major opportunity for us," said Doug Young, president and chief executive officer of Cygnal Technologies. "While our primary focus has been and continues to be the Canadian market, further penetration of the United States market remains one of our longer-term goals. This is therefore an extremely attractive project because it not only provides us with another opportunity to showcase our work in the U.S. market, but also brings us in contact with industry leaders like AT&T Broadband and extends our reputation for broadband expertise south of the border." AT&T Broadband is one of the leading providers of broadband services in the U.S. Formerly known as Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI) prior to its recent merger with AT&T, AT&T Broadband is a business unit of AT&T that provides cable television entertainment and information programming services to more than 10 million customers across the U.S. The company also provides a host of advanced services through AT&T digital cable offerings and its high-speed cable Internet service AT&T@Home, and is actively developing competitive local cable telephone services. AT&T Broadband is part of AT&T Corp., the world's leader in telecommunications services and technology. Normex Telecom Inc. is a Cygnal Technologies Corporation company that designs and installs structured cabling, broadcast, and wireless telecommunication systems. |
