I think it's necessary to consider Q status without China - for that matter continued economic development without China. Got to stand up to them now. There will probably be no most favored status or CDMA in China with this escallation. Either a serious miscalculation by China or Taiwan has become most important. Perhaps Europe, and a softer stand on Taiwan (in exchange for GSM, etc) is playing in as well.

That said, tide seems to be turning a bit for CDMA with recent announcements. Don't see China as lethal for Q.
