Company to Launch New Internet Health Portal at NatureWell.com
LA JOLLA, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--Feb. 29, 2000--La Jolla Diagnostics Inc. (OTCBB:LAJD - news), today announced plans to launch a major new internet health portal at www.NatureWell.com. Expected launch date is mid-April.
``We are bringing an entirely different kind of health portal to the internet.' said Stephen Roberts, MD, President. ``Our goal is to empower groups and individuals by providing more than just basic information. We believe that at present there are better sites and tools for discussing stocks and sharing information on investments than there are for health concerns. We intend to change that. Not only will we offer the freedom and the means to achieve collaboration among users, but also a space that is 100% free of advertising. The place where people meet to learn about and discuss personal health issues should be considered sacred. We will never defile that space with ads. And of course we will never sell user data of any kind, to anyone, ever.'
NatureWell.com will not try to look like the other so-called health portals and certainly will not function like them. The site will promote no view except that freedom is essential and well informed people are capable of making better decisions. We embrace the concept of an ``open society', and affirm that no single group or worldview holds possession of all truths pertaining to health.
To encourage community building and active participation, users are able to interact and contribute at nearly every level. NatureWell.com ``communities' are organized around approximately 150 various topics of concern. Anyone wishing to build a health-related web site (e.g. ``homesteading') can do so free of charge. NatureWell.com will not intrude on these community home pages by placing banner ads or anything else on them. These sites are active contributors to and a resource for the internet health community. They will not be a source of revenue for the company.
Our revenues will come first from the sale of NatureWell.com products. These products will be confined to the ``store', the existence of which is evidenced solely by a small tab on the home page. We will, however, offer the most attractive referral program on the internet. This is only possible because we sell high-value, high-margin products, and because we strictly limit internet distribution of these to our site.
The ``store' will serve not only users of our health portal, but will also receive orders from and send information to distributors, representatives and retailers in the ``bricks and mortar' world. The Company believes that, especially with a number of new products scheduled for introduction over the next 60 days, the entire product line will become increasingly attractive to retailers and other re-sellers. Because we retain exclusive control over internet sales of our products, retailers will be assured that there is no discounted source available on the internet.
In addition, the ``store' will feature auctions. Any individual, professional or business can auction any health-related good or service. Auctions will commence with site launch.
Alternately, sellers of health-related goods and services may opt to locate a separate store within our store: NatureWell.com Internet Kiosks. The opportunity for retailers, including individuals, to open a kiosk within our store will be available at launch.
