FractalBlue Antenna Line Debuts to Make a Truly Wireless World

(Private held as rangestar...)

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 29, 2000--Fractal Antenna Systems, Inc. today announced today that it developed a new line of antennas for use with Bluetooth© and other 2.4 GHz ISM applications which promise to make the option of going wireless easy and inexpensive , while maintaining high performance.

Its first roll out is a tiny box-like fractal antenna. Shaped from metal and containing no substrate, inductors, or capacitors, the debut antenna in the FractalBlue(tm) antenna line is a sure winner for the projected billion unit wireless industry working at 2.4 GHz.

Fitting of the form factor of a pill or hearing aid battery, the new fractal antenna has already passed both range and in situ use tests as a high performer. ``The fractal design allows for the small but high performance result in a wonderfully small form factor', noted Chief Technical Officer Nathan Cohen. He added that it can be soldered as an SMT component, and as it is a fractal shaped piece of metal it suffers from none of the reliability challenges posed by antennas made from substrates.

The company, with its proprietary design, will be the exclusive source for the new antenna, with lot sizes of 20,000 on up. Prices per unit (CPU) start at 40 cents and decrease dramatically with large lot sizes.

Fractal Antenna Systems, Inc. was founded in 1995, privately held, and is now Massachusetts based at Telecom City. Its award winning, patent pending technology provides high performance antenna solutions with smaller sizes, multi frequency use, and greater reliability. Its fractal antenna elements are rapidly becoming the prime application of fractal geometry to hardware applications. The company's customer base includes global telecom companies, defense institutions, universities, and emerging companies catering to the telecom, wireless, RFID, and related markets.
