Freeus, Investing in stock is not "saving"!!! I'm not an expert on how the monetarists define M1, M2, etc., but I don't think your comment is accurate. Before stocks are purchased, the cash must first be deposited in an account. That's the measured savings. It doesn't matter what the cash is used for after it is deposited insofar as measuring the rate of savings is concerned. --Mike Buckley
