Jibacoa,
Thanks for your insight. I find that I am using many of your strategies. I nibble a bit, if it goes up, I accumulate. If it goes 10% below my entry, I always sell.
How I took a position on ALSC
On DD : The internet provides a wealth of resources, besides the obvious financial places (which may have wrong earnings on data), the company websites, there's always good old fashioned study of what the products look like, who their customers are, or what is interesting about this company. I traded siii as one of the stocks in my active-trading account, and 'discovered' that ALSC holds even more UMC, and BRCM and others, but did not have the burn rate that siii had.
There's actually many stocks that I nibbled and then retreated from. This strategy seems to work, but some DD helps cut that down. I never buy a stock blind.
When I do buy, I don't do too much TA, I basically nibbled and then bought over several days. I didn't really time it based on TA, since I rely more on dollar cost averaging. Once I reached my target amount (ALWAYS <25% of total portfolio), I usually will hold for a while. But I'd like to learn how to do a proper T.A.
I have some math background, so if you have a good website that can teach me how TA works, I'll be happy to try it out.

:-) Glad you caught onto my nom de plume. I figured there are two forces at work here. Fear=Scared, Greed=Hopeful. There's a reason why FEAR comes before GREED. Good, someone who understands. |
