I tend to agree. Let AMD develop their own compiler but because CuMine beats Athlon by such a wide margin in SPECfp, the argument has been that it is only because of the use of the SSE prefetch instructions from the Intel compiler and that Athlon should be able to execute that same code and enjoy a huge performance boost. Same compiler same code has been the call. Nobody has seen how they compare when both use prefetch. How all this affects integer code is unknown.
