OK, here is how you "play a cam"-- Content-Addressable
Memory uses the data itself as an indexing tool to order the
information. This is in contrast to conventional memory where some sort of indexing scheme must be applied and the
indexing scheme is for addresses in memory where the actual
data is stored. CAMs allow for a more speedy access and
lookup of the information. Here is a nice CAM tutorial,
courtesy of ALTERA.
