Nihil,

The principles of socialism are noble. Everyone plays an equally important role in a society. Just like the spokes on a bicycle wheel, every spoke is as important as the next. Together the spokes give strength and make the wheel work.

The only problem is that we are NOT spokes in a wheel, we are human beings. And human beings are lazy by nature, always seeking an easier way out. Work is a necessity for most. If given the choice between working in a hot, sweaty office or lying on a beach somewhere in the Mediterranean I think most humans would choose basking in the sun. Socialism rewards laziness. You don't have to take my word for it, all you have to do is take a look around you. Look at all the able-bodied strong young men living on welfare and basking in the sun with your tax dollars.

I, for one, am able-bodied and working. For argument sake I propose you and 10 of your confreres send me a portion of your salary each week so that I may stay home and enjoy life at your expense while you work your butt off every day. What would happen if suppose a couple of my neighbors also choose to live at your expense? How much can you work and how far can you stretch your salary to support me and my neighbors?

Vince

PS - Capitalism is far far far from being perfect, but it is far better than the rest.
