Me too, busy!! that is.....don't know if it's because the world is going so fast that all of us can't breathe, and are working more hours than we ever did....OR we just ask more of ourselves, and volunteer for more, OR what.
Everyone has modern appliances to make life easier, and it makes more work..I read an article on this very subject a while ago.
Take the washing machine and dryer as an example. Back just 70 years ago, it was an all day job to do the laundry, so everyone wore the same clothes for four or five times without washing them {I hope not the underwear}. Today, if we wear something out to dinner for a couple of hours, it goes in the washing, thus creating MORE washing and MORE work. So, it seems the more "time saving" devices we have, the more work we have created.
Another good example is the dishwasher...now we have a drink and put the glass in the dishwasher.... well, Mothers do anyway. Where as, before people would use the same glass or cup all day...Do you see where I'm going with this? As we make our lives easier, we apply stricter standards to what we will accept!
Same thing in the business world. Computers have definitely revolutionized the world, but heaven help the company whose computers go down! The easier we have made out lives, the more complicated it has become.
But, enough philosophizing...we're all in a hurry with too much to do! The End!!! |
