Novell: The Black Hole Must End Now.....
Paul:
Amen....
>>Unfortunately none gives a flying #@45 about Novell's infrastrucure products. Instead they are putting together with typical Microsoft glue and paste the crumiest most defective possible sh$%#y infrastructure they can get away with selling. And there is Novell with its superior class A infrastructure waiting for someone to use it.
Well get a life folks. You can be stupid once. But to be stupid year after year after year..... To persist in the stupidity.>>
It's time to light the match inside Novell.
Somewhere, deep inside this company is an individual - or two or three or more - who will have the guts to risk telling Eric what he needs to hear and then follow this up by stepping across the line in a very public way and set an example of courage for others by lighting a tiny little match.
>>Here is ichain, digitalme, eDirectory, DirXML and more and more and more. YET NOT A SINGLE CONSUMER LEVEL PRODUCT TO SHOWCASE THE TECHNOLOGY!!!>>
EXACTLY Paul!!!
A year ago there was enough energy and ideas and risk being taken inside Novell to start a revolution. Remember the cover of Barrons????
Remember.........www.novel.com????
What happened folks?
Here's my gut read.
There was all this positive energy and all these new ideas. All this "out there" public good stuff which was coming from outside in and inside out was swirling around and beginning to start a transformational fission reaction for incredible change within the company.
However, within a week or two of BrainShare all this energy, all this light, all this good stuff came to a complete halt.
This train, this energy, this wonderful story was hijacked.
Someone inside Novell couldn't stand the thought of this "New Novell" actually taking th is bold move to cross the line and "Let Go" of it's power and control and begin to enter the true Internet Age by placing it's future in the hands of customers - INDIVIDUALS, clients, etc. - by building consumer apps.
Nope, for there was still the Old Guard who was already plotting a safer way to go with CitiGroup and other big clients in an attempt to fatefully prove once and for all time that the Old Netware legacy - despite the mistakes of the past - could be ultimately vindicated.
Continue the old way. Sell infrastructure. Place companies on the pedestal. Close down all channels to individuals. Cut the political legs off those who are trying to build something for consumers. Make sure all future consumer app initiatives are starved for core energy and support. Than make a major blitz to get in bed permanently with major companies.
The NOVELL.COM train was hijacked by this mindset inside Novell:
THE POWER IS WITH COMPANIES....
....NOT INDIVIDUALS
For companies don't want consumers to learn the value of community, identity, anonymity, trust, freedom and personal power.
The Old Guard that still wields power inside Novell doesn't want individuals to learn the value of community, identity, anonymity, trust, freedom and personal power.
There is ONE individual inside Novell who is blocking, restricting, refracting, limiting and controlling things to such a degree that FEAR is still the overriding energy channeling through Novell right now.
Many very good people have left Novell for they got fed up of this crap. There are many, many extremely talented engineers and developers out there who could use Novell's directory and in an extremely short period of time come out with some really kick ass consumer products. I know for I have talked with many of these folks.
For the past 2+ years I have been sharing Novell's potential with many people while pouring all the white hot energy I could muster inside Novell. I believe in this little $11 billion dolllar company. I think Novell deserves a market cap 10-20 times this, but it's not going to come unless these Black Hole energies are challenged and booted out, period.
We need to start a fission reaction inside Novell. The BS and politics of this Old Style power/control bureaucracy has to be challenged. It's time to checkmate this charade and confront those who practice the art of corrupting others, instilling fear and taking energy.
As far as I'm concerned the Internet still smacks of the same Old Business model desert which is setting the impression that we all need to go to these Oasis's to get our food and drink. But the world is NOT a desert. The Internet we've seen up to this day has been a charade. And this game is going to stop. For individuals will gradually learn that THEY - not AOL, Microsoft, Amazon - have the power. Individuals will gradually learn to extend their trust back out into the world and as they do this they will reclaim their personal power. As they extend trust they will relearn the value of taking risks and failing and learning.
This tapestry of personal and collective trust can get rebuilt a lot faster if Novell would simply give up trying to extend it's closed, negative energy NetWare legacy. For Novell has technology which the Internet needs now. It has the technology which INDIVIDUALS residing in communities on these new DOT.COM platforms will be able to populate in more powerful, all encompassing service-oriented ways.
I'm talking about massively empowering new personal applications which will usher and support this Next Wave of The Individual. As far as I'm concerned this wave started early this year. And nobody will be able to stop it. It's a wave of freedom and power and trust which will sweep the world as people reclaim their positive energy as they extend their trust back out into the world. We will all be re-learning the value of taking risks and being of service to others.
The Internet is one BIG fission reaction. The first two phases impacted our fingers and at thimble-deep levels, the legacy platforms of companies - websites and e-commerce. It made a lot of people rich for reasons which will be gradually be turned upside down. For this next phase will impact our minds. Companies will be forced to open up completely and "communitize" themselves by extending trust back out into the world. The more companies extend trust, the less they become companies and the more they become communities. For communities and the individuals inside them will control everything.
And "everything" will be based on two core elements: TIME and TRUST.
Earning the personal time and trust of INDIVIDUALS through shared knowledge and service - NOT advertising and marketing - will define this Next Wave.
For more and more people will learn how to become transformational catalysts: using the power of faith and ideas to reshape human capital from a mindset of negative energy, fear and scarcity to positive energy which is fired by belief, faith, forgiveness, love and acts of service. For the future of this New Age will be about giving up power and control. The future of this New Age will be about trusting, risking, learning, failing and sharing knowledge. This New Age of unlimited growth will be based on a growing individual recognition that there are NO FIXED PIES ANYMORE.
For, contrary to what the media and government and political leaders want you to believe, the world is NOT a desert anymore.
The world is a tropical paradise. It's all a matter of perspective. And now there's a mandate that people with knowledge of this truth come forward and proclaim it for others to understand.
I look at this Presidential race and I'm just turned off. McCain seems to have the energy, Bush is being pushed around like a puppet and Gore/Bradley lose ALL credibility because they are too scared to call a spade a spade with the Unions. But there's still too much negative energy being thrown around. And all for what???? If they really possessed the power of their convictions they'd all stand up and share some positive energy as a gift with ONE purpose only - to show by example what helping and serving others is all about. Someone needs to breakthrough the BS, politics and all this negative energy and become a warrior of the truth which is supported by the power of forgiveness and love. Nobody is leading. They are all fighting. These are classic Black Hole conquests: who can refract the most light and power and energy from others.
Back to Novell......
>>What gives with Novell? Is it that Novell management can convince themselves that it doesn't matter if you don't have a consumer level Internet product? Do they ignore the testimony today of Case and Levin before the Senate saying the consumer makes your company? Are the digitalme people sitting on there asses over there in engineering?>>
It doesn't take Case and Levin testimony before Congress for this truth to be driven home. Novell's paltry $11 billion market cap is because there's still this bloody stake of power/control with a ball chain attached which leads to a few Old Guard minds inside Novell who desperately want to keep up this charade as they try to keep this reality from becoming public knowledge.
As far as Case, Levin is concerned, the AOL/TimeWarner deal is a wonderfully classic erruption of fear and arrogance. We will look back at this deal and see it represented the capstone example of the Old Era. Case can no more bail out Levin than vis versa. Face it Bob, It's OVER, period. Done.
For we are now entering a New Age.......
A Novell which let's go and encourages the creation and development of an "out there" tribal-like open source model will be what can define it's future as THE next Internet technology leader. Novell's future is NOT inside Novell. It's right here INSIDE my head and the head of many others out there who marvel at the elegance and power of Novell's technology, but wonder how this incredible closed-minded negative energy stupidity will ever be broken up so this technology can really flower and explode.
>>Do Novell people really still think that having superior technology without a consumer level platform to demonstrate that technology is going to cause that technology to be widely adopted anyway?
Is it going to be done by divine revelation? Get your heads together. GO OUT THERE TO THE GREAT SALT LAKE AND TRY ANOTHER BAPTISM EXPERIENCE.>>
Paul, we don't need more salt. Ever since BrainShare I feel like we've all been nursing/growing a hidden Novell salt "block". The Great Salt Lake won't do. Someone's going to have to drag them up to SunDance, throw them in a clean water lake and make a movie out of it to get this job done.
>>Yours trully is getting prepared to put it on the line at this years BOD meeting. ENOUGH. Get us somebody that knows how to build a consumer level product in this company!!! I've had it with excuses. My patience is at an end.>>
Me and many others can say the same thing.
Eric can't hide this secret any longer.
The Novell.com train was derailed a year ago after BrainShare. Those who hijacked this train must be held accountable.
Do the job Eric!
Peace.
