WILMINGTON, Del., April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Ionic Fuel Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq:IFTI), today announced an agreement with Interbrew S.A., a Belgian Brewer, covering four IFT System installations for their brewery in Jupille-sur-Meuse, Belgium, according to Anthony J.S. Garner, President and Chief Executive Officer.
``Interbrew, the World's Fifth Largest Brewers, producing the well known popular brands, Jupiler, Stella, Leffe and Labatt's beers, have recently entered into an agreement with Ionic Fuel Technology for four Systems installed at their latest Brewery in Leige, Belgium. The IFT Systems were installed in November 1996 and performed trials completed by the end of the year showed a fuel saving averaging in excess of 4 percent across the three boilers used in the trial. In addition the annual reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions amounted to 1,770 tons per year,'' continued Garner.
``The IFT System continues to confirm it can reduce fuel costs significantly in a number of industries and as a result have a substantial impact on emissions. The CO2 reduction for Interbrew represents 7-8 percent of the annual tonnage. We are extremely pleased with the trial results and see this as another step towards the greater acceptance of our technology,'' added Garner.
