Wow, I have to eat my words. I am very happy with this interview. Jerry did talk about Intel but not until directly questioned about them, and even then he did not seem to me to be bitter or abrasive in his comments. I particularly liked this part, in response to whether AMD had bitten off more than it could chew.

"If we were trying to be Intel, we would probably have a difficult time. But we're not. We're trying to be the rallying point for the industry alternative to an Intel monopoly."

So while Intel dictates it's will to the world and forces it's decisions on OEMs(Rambus), AMD is claiming to want to focus more on cooperation and becoming a rallying point for collaborative technological improvement. If they succeed at doing this then it is not just AMD against Intel, it then becomes Intel vs. the world. That is what AMD means by "virtual gorilla" and I think that such a strategy has the potential to be very well recieved by AMD's technology partners (and potential partners) and the marketplace.

All in all I like the interview and I am eating my words right now (munch, munch) :) I will post to Mani in a second.
