Schlumberger Web Site Offers Industry News, Oil and Gas Prices - Bloomberg
New York, March 1 (Bloomberg) -- Schlumberger Ltd., which sells services to the oil, utility, semiconductor, banking and other industries, has expanded its Web site to include daily news.
The service, called Realtime, offers daily coverage of the five industries in which Schlumberger is involved, using stories from providers such as Reuters Group Plc and Bridge Information Systems Inc. Realtime can be accessed at www.slb.com.
Realtime also provides oil and gas prices, information on utility and semiconductor markets, and a count of oil and gas rigs. The rig count competes with one by Baker Hughes Inc., the third-largest oil services company, that has been the industry standard for more than 50 years.
Businesses covered by the news service are oil and gas exploration and production; smart cards and terminals; semiconductors; electricity, water and gas utilities; and network and Internet services.
Schlumberger, the world's second-biggest oil-services company, on Jan. 31 opened www.IndigoPool.com, where clients can sell oil and gas properties. The company, based in New York and Paris, had sales of $8.4 billion last year.
Schlumberger shares rose 1 49/64 to 75 5/8 in early trading.
Reuters and Bridge compete with Bloomberg LP in offering financial news and information.
